Meg Basilio - 8th Grade Geography

I did not start my academic career planning on teaching. I worked with young children at my college child development center and was immediately drawn to their all consuming love of learning and desire to make sense of their world. It was infectious and I realized that I loved being with them. I continue to be inspired by my students and their love of learning. I admit I love the fun and crazy world of middle school and the challenges it brings. I am proud and honored to be a teacher.

John Walsh - Patton Middle School

Why do I teach? Because the idea of spending the entire day around kids appeals to me -- because I think I am still a kid at heart! Because my high school math teacher (Mr. Butler) showed me that teachers should be helpful, compassionate, understanding -- and I have always remembered that and needed to pay it forward. Why do I teach? Because it's about making a difference and the only thing I've ever wanted to do.

Glen Lewis - 7th Grade Math

I teach because being a teacher is the greatest job.  I love teaching my students about math and having fun while doing it.  I teach because there is nothing as exciting as seeing a student leave my room happy after having a great math class.  I teach because I love to learn, and I want students to share that passion for knowledge.  I could have chosen any career, but I've always wanted to teach.
